Independent, Nurture, Skills, Progress, Individual, Resilience, Encourage
Intent:
Our Curriculum intent in computing is to INSPIRE children to independently build knowledge and the skills of computational thinking and individual creativity to understand and change the world. As children are encouraged and progress through the curriculum, they will be able to use their spiritual compass to help guide them through the ever changing technological landscape and build their resilience. They will be expressing and developing their ideas through: information and communication technology. This nurtures and prepares them for careers in a future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
Implementation:
At St Anne’s Catholic Primary School through support of specialist teaching we will ensure that all pupils:
- can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
- can analyse problems in computational terms, and have repeated practical experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems
- can evaluate and apply information technology, including new or unfamiliar technologies, analytically to solve problems
- are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology
Impact:
Our children have the knowledge and skills of computational thinking and creativity. They are resilient in an ever changing technological landscape. They can express and develop their ideas using information and communication technology. Our children are prepared to build for future careers as active participants in a digital world.
At St Anne’s we follow a scheme of work for Computing from the Knowsley City Learning Centre.
